“We embarked on our journey to the stars with a question first framed in the childhood of our species and in each generation asked anew with undiminished wonder: What are the stars? Exploration is in our nature. We began as wanderers, and we are wanderers still. We have lingered long enough on the shores of the cosmic ocean. We are ready at last to set sail for the stars.”
Carl Sagan

Burn this city
“Those worlds in space are as countless as all the grains of sand on all the beaches of the Earth. Each of those worlds is as real as ours. In every one of them, there's a succession of incidents, events, occurrences which influence its future. Countless worlds, numberless moments, an immensity of space and time. And our small planet, at this moment, here we face a critical branch point in history. What we do with our world, right now, will propagate down through the centuries and powerfully affect the destiny of our descendants. It is well within our power to destroy our civilization, and perhaps our species as well. If we capitulate to superstition, or greed, or stupidity we can plunge our world into a darkness deeper than time between the collapse of classical civilization and the Italian Renaissaince. But, we are also capable of using our compassion and our intelligence, our technology and our wealth, to make an abundant and meaningful life for every inhabitant of this planet, to enhance enormously our understanding of the Universe, and to carry us to the stars.”
Carl Sagan
We are abandoned in the sea of vain daydreams. Look who we are, we are hostages of our fears that are not real indeed. Despised by ourselves, we pity. Look who we are: how much we had lost and so little achieved; we always wait for someone to dismiss ourselves.
We are burning alive in this city of reveries.

Picture one. Past.
… A square in the old town crowded with people, surrounded by a wall of stone.
Fireplace in the middle of the square.
Crowd grudges. Cries of abused people are heard everywhere.
Condemned men are standing near the fire with their heads hanging.
Suddenly light flashes, illuminating the square and all the people.
One of the men is up in the air – his heart burns and shines like a star, making people narrow their eyes…
Picture two. Future.
Conversation:
- We are doomed to extinct. Just leave. Look in the illuminator – what can you see? This Planet is dying. You can watch the inevitable demise of Mother Earth, my dear.
- Why would you stay here? Why would you not escape just like the others?
- Home. My home is here. I was born here, and I will face my destiny here. I believe I will go to a better place...which exists somewhere.
- If you want to stay here till the end, I promise to stay with you.

Past days are never back.
You are thrown somewhere in the deserted place. The only thing you can see – big flakes of snow. Blizzard rages around you. There is no clear path: you can't see the starts or the Sun to guide you in the right direction. However, despite that, you are calm inside. Your mind is clear and your heart is burning. You feel no cold or fear. You have buried your memories under this snow, memories that have almost ruined you from the inside. You cannot see anything in front of you – and that gives you strength and hope. You are happy and satisfied with the present...
Mighty moon smiles somewhere and sends you to sleep…

Metaphoric.
Characters:
1. Presumptuous, confirmed in God, Christ and Holy Spirit, figure of "man".
2. Malevolent, unholy figure with evil intentions - "The Tempter"; shown here not as a single person, but also like a society that lives in sin and disbelief.
Part 1
"The Temper" urges a "Man" that all he lives for is a transparent lie and that he professes false moral ideals."Man" complains, saying that without any divine support he will be unable to resist any desires "of the world, the flesh and the devil". Nevertheless, he is fully confident in his belonging to something celestial and immaculate.
Part 2
Years passed; "Man" gets old and realizes that "The Tempter" was right; he seeks after him, but in vain. "Man" gives up at last. He is begging "The Tempter" to alter him, and finally, to release. He realizes that the only one who can do this is, in fact, himself.
Part 3
Desperate, hopeless, with a foreboding of a tragic consequence, "Man" departs. He abandons his habitat, his paternal home that put him on the "straight and narrow"; with a promise that he will never revert.
